DynamicOps Cloud Automation Center automates the complete end-to-end lifecycle management of all machines placed under its control. This includes both machines provisioned by DynamicOps as well as existing machines that have been imported and placed under DynamicOps control. Operational governance and control policies can be used to customize how the IT service is delivered, managed and decommissioned for different businesses within your enterprise. Intelligent resource placement assures that the requestor receives the right size machine at the right service level for their intended task.
Automated service delivery is accomplished using the following components:
- Full Lifecycle Management – Unlike many cloud automation tools which only automate initial provisioning, DynamicOps automates the tasks needed to manage a compute resource throughout its entire life. These include:
- Initial provisioning - Includes a variety of provisioning workflows and software deployment options for virtual, physical and public cloud machines.
- Ongoing management – Includes power management, rebooting, reconfiguration, reprovisioning of decommissioning and archival.
- Reclamation and Reuse – Automates the process to identify, verify and reclaim inactive compute resources, driving improved hardware utilization.
- Decommissioning and Archival – Support for both manual and automated decommissioning and archival of machines after they are no longer needed.
- Ecosystem Integration – End-to-end service delivery typically necessitates integration with existing tools and systems. For example, retrieving machine names and IP addresses from a custom database, or updating a patch management or CMDB database with information about new compute resources. DynamicOps’ Design Center provides a visual workflow editor and activity library that allow administrators to customize DynamicOps out-of-the-box process automation for integration with their existing ecosystem.
- Distributed Execution – Distributed execution is essential to enabling scalability and availability in a large enterprise environment. DynamicOps Distributed Execution Manager distributes automation tasks based on policies so that they can run local to the resources and people that they service.
